research.vibrantlabs.com is the public half of the Vibrant Labs
research notebook. We build RL environments, and we are trying to work out how far that
can be automated and how you would know if it had been done badly.
How it works
The site is generated from a wiki that we actually use day to day. Five kinds of page:
- Sources — one page per paper: what it claims, the passages that carry the argument, and what it contributes to a question we hold.
- Concepts — the vocabulary, in our words plus what the sources add.
- Projects — a research thread, shaped after The Craft of Research: a question, why it matters, a working claim marked provisional, and what would overturn it.
- Sessions — paper club write-ups.
- Experiments — one folder per run, including the ones that failed.
Pages are published individually. What you see here is the part we are ready to stand behind; the rest stays internal until it is. We publish method and results, never customer data.
Who writes it
Mostly people. Some of it is drafted by an agent of ours that reads papers and files them into the wiki, but nothing reaches this site without a person reviewing it first.
Taking part
- Paper club — one paper a fortnight, in public. Schedule here.
- Discord — where the discussion happens. The invite appears in the footer with the first paper club session.
- Corrections — if we have a paper wrong, say so through the paper club sign-up. We would rather fix it.
Reuse
Notes and write-ups here are ours; the papers they summarise belong to their authors, and we link every one. Quote us freely with a link back.
